Twelfth Night is the traditional beginning of Mardi Gras, on January 6, twelve nights after Christmas. The festivities begin on the front steps of Johnny's with the reading of the proclamation declaring the Mardi Gras season. A musical procession will then wind through the neighborhood, ending at the corner of 7th and Soulard, where the Soulard Mardi Gras flag will rise and fireworks will signal the official start of the Mardi Gras season in Soulard.
